Methane flare from a lake in Fairbanks, Alaska


Researchers from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) are studying methane generated by lakes created by thawing permafrost. This field trip on 4-Dec-08 illustrates a typical methane "hot stop" under the ice. Dragos Vas is lighting the methane and Dr. Mat Wooller (in furry hat) teaches the seminar. Video by K.
